Extreme Weather Expedition Kickoff

This past Friday, we kicked off our first expedition! A helpful tour guide led students to each station around the school. At the stations, students identified which continent they were visiting and discussed the artifacts at the table. They discovered one type of extreme weather that impacts each continent. As they followed the clues to find the next station, they collected an envelope. In the end, students collaborated to piece together their puzzles and identify what the theme of our expedition was going to be.

  Hi Families!  We are well into 3rd grade now and having a ton of fun! Here is a summary of what we are up to in class next week.  Crew - We are continuing our work on building a great classroom culture. This week we have been working on what it means to be an active listener. On Wellness Wednesday we also read an article about the long term benefits to spending time outside. Feel free to use it as motivation to get them out to play!  I-ready testing- We are continuing our I-Ready testing into next week. We have been working on these tests in smaller chunks so that students can give focus on their very best work. Hi Families!  We have had a great first week of school! It has been great getting to know all of the students in the class. We are off to a great start.  Here is a summary of what we are working on in each subject and some important events coming up.  Crew - In class, we are working on setting norms to create a great and safe classroom environment. Our norms are based on our school habits of character. Norms can include everything from behaviors, academics, perseverance etc. I highly encourage you to ask your student what the classroom norms are in the class and even brainstorm some new ideas.  During the day, we have our togetherness time in which students play games and activities that help build trust and friendships with one another.  Academics- We have started our year with a readiness test in math to help us understand your child as a mathematician.  We have also done some writing and reading baselines to determine next steps for your child. Week 4 Newsletter

Hi Families!  Kids are in full swing of 3rd grade! We first want to thank you all for the incredible support we have received to get this school year off to a great start. Here is what we are up to in 3rd grade.  Crew - We have been working in crew on how to use self talk to help yourself stay motivated and on task. We also worked on creating a flag for field day!   I-ready testing- We are almost done with our I-Ready testing! This week we have focused on finishing our reading and switching over to math. One more week and we should be complete!   Reading / Writing - We have continued our books study on Nasreen's Secret School . We looked at the lesson and moral this week and how to use details from the story to back up your thinking. The students then put all of this together to write a paragraph.
